Pediatric Flu Clinical Study in Columbus

Pediatric Flu Clinical Research

Volunteer Now

According to the CDC, the flu is more dangerous than the common cold for children. Pediatric influenza or "the flu" typically requires medical care in children under the age of five, and in some cases can result in death. It most commonly produces complications in children under the age of two, but as many as 20,000 children aged five and younger are hospitalized every year with flu-related problems.

The flu is a contagious respiratory illness that affects the nose, throat, and lungs—causing usually mild illness in healthy humans. In some instances the illness can be severe, and more rarely can lead to death. Symptoms of the pediatric flu can include:

  • Body/muscle aches
  • Chills
  • Cough
  • Fatigue
  • Fever
  • Headaches
  • Runny/stuffy nose
  • Sore throat
  • Vomiting/diarrhea

Certain people are at higher risk of developing flu-related complications, including young children.

If your child is suffering from the pediatric flu, they might be eligible to volunteer for a clinical trial in your area. Participants may receive compensation for time and travel. To see if your child may qualify, please contact us at 614-501-6164 or complete our online volunteer form.
